This Earth Day RMA students across the state of Texas worked hard to beautiful their school and surrounding communities.
To celebrate environmental consciousness, RMA Amarillo students and volunteers, with the generous donations and partnership of community sponsors, worked from 11:00am-2:00pm planting trees, introducing flowers and beautifying the exterior of the surrounding school community. The event kicked off with the celebration of planting a new beautiful tree donated by Love & Son and a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce.
Not only did students beautify their community, they also shared Earth Day excitement and awareness! RMA partnered with local businesses to provide, free of charge, Earth Day kids’ crafts, live music, door prizes, as well as food and beverages for families and friends. Channel 10 News in Amarillo even featured our efforts! http://www.newschannel10.com/story/31795365/new-changes-coming-for-richard-milburn-academy/
Each year, RMA Odessa adopts the parking lot surrounding our school community and a nearby park. Our Odessa Wolfpack learns the responsibility and value of being a good community partner and steward of the environment.
This Earth Day, our Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) students took special measures to beautify their community. They picked up trash, swept dirty walks, cleaned up environmental waste and helped to maintain paths and grass within the parking lot and local park. These students were Earth Day ambassadors and spread Earth Day cheer throughout the surrounding community, stopping when the job was complete.
Not only are we proud our students served their community, we are especially proud of the heart and attitude by which our students led and executed Earth Day, the RMA way!
