Graduation for Students with Disabilities
Graduation Information
At RMA, students receiving special education services work toward the same Texas high school diploma as their peers. A student’s graduation plan is based on Texas graduation requirements and, when appropriate, individualized decisions made by the student’s IEP committee.
Students may also have the opportunity to earn an endorsement in an area that connects with their interests and future goals, such as STEM, Business & Industry, Public Service, Arts & Humanities, or Multidisciplinary Studies.
As part of transition planning, the IEP committee considers both the student’s graduation requirements and their plans for life after high school. This helps make sure the student’s courses, services, and supports are aligned with where they want to go next.
Our goal is for every student to leave RMA with a diploma and a plan for what comes next, whether that’s college, career or technical training, employment, military service, or another path toward adulthood.
